Welcome to Long Eaton Family Martial Arts Academy.

We're a family run martial arts club specializing in Freestyle Taekwondo and Judo. We offer a range of different classes, for people of all abilities, from the age of 3.

To find out more about who we are, take a look below.

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

Ms O'Connell opened the club in 2008, with the help of her children Caine and Kira - who still teach today. Back then, we didn't have an academy of our own, so we taught in leisure centres and school halls across the county.

In 2012 we opened our own fully equipped academy with two dojos, a gym and state-of-the-art equipment. But one thing is still the same - family is at the heart of what we do. Our club welcomes families of all shapes and sizes, is friendly and supportive and has helped many people with both their physical and mental health.

Join our family today.

Dawn (Mrs O), our head instructor, opened the club back in 2008. She teaches the adult classes, weapons courses, Judo and PYT. Ms O'Connell is a 2nd Dan Black Belt and has been training for over 45 years. As a teenager, she was chosen to be on the Olympic Judo Team but had to pull out due to lack of funding which drives her passion to provide martial arts for all.

As part of maintaining a safe training environment, CCTV operates within communal training and entrance areas. The system is used solely for safeguarding, safety, and crime prevention purposes. We are committed to: Operating CCTV transparently Displaying clear signage Avoiding surveillance in private areas Limiting retention to 30 days Restricting access to authorised personnel only Complying fully with UK data protection legislation We recognise that children require enhanced protection. For this reason, we have completed both a Legitimate Interests Assessment and a Data Protection Impact Assessment to ensure our CCTV use is necessary, proportionate, and appropriate.
